Working together to harness artificial intelligence for the life sciences
Research
In addition to the transfer, our passion lies in the further development, as well as the scientific application of approaches.äOur main focus is on the further development and scientific application of artificial intelligence approaches, especially in the field of life sciences. We are working on various projects in collaboration with researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biology, among others.üand the Carnegie Institution for Science.
Computational Biology
Our main focus is on the investigation of gene regulation processes. In particular, we are involved in the integrative analysis of genomic and epigenomic high-dimensional data sets to make predictions and to support the prioritization of validation experiments.
Machine Learning
Emphasis is on: i) generative machine learning (e.g., variational autoencoders, generative adversarial networks, normalizing flows); ii) data integration, imputation, or dimensionality reduction (e.g., non-negative matrix factorization, principal component analysis); or iii) randomized algorithms.
Statistics
Our work focuses on the application and development of statistical methods for the analysis of heterogeneous, high-dimensional, biological data sets. This includes, among others, methods for the analysis of data from DNA microarray experiments, genomic or epigenomic NGS experiments (next-generation sequencing).

Dr. Michael Banf
Machine Learning & BIOINFORMATIoN
After my postdoc in Computational Biology at the Carnegie Institution for Science, located on the Stanford University campus, I worked as a bioinformatics and machine learning consultant. It was here that I first had the idea of founding my own think tank.

Jan Nasemann
During my doctorate in the field of neuroscience within the of the Elite Neuroscience graduate program, I became increasingly interested in artificial intelligence. I have several years of experience as a consultant and teacher in the focus area of Statistics.
Services
In addition to research, we are equally passionate about knowledge transfer and consulting. Seminar, consulting and cooperation offers are available for planning and evaluation of biomedical and clinical research projects in bioinformatics and genomic statistics. If you are interested, please contact us directly.
Seminars
We offer seminars on current topics of artificial intelligence, as well as their application, especially in the field of life sciences.
Workshops
In practical training sessions, you will learn "hands-on" how to use AI technology successfully .We discuss the opportunities and risks. Using case studies, you will gain insights into AI-supported data analysis.
Data Analysis
Weperformstatistical data analyses tailored to theirneeds. Together, we develop a holistic strategy that takes into account all relevant components and development steps.
